Chainsaw logging in the Juaboso-Bia Landscape is on the rise as a result of the activities of illegal actors. Through the capacity building efforts of FoE Ghana, local community people have been trained in the use of the Timby app in forest monitoring.

In the Bia West District of the Juaboso-Bia Landscape, local community forest monitors are contributing to the protection of forests through active monitoring and reporting. In one of the monitoring activities of a forest monitor, a chainsaw operation was identified and reported on and this evidence is being used to engage local forest authorities to ensure that there is increased presence and patrolling by the forest officials in the landscape.
