Illegal Chainsaw activities on the rise

Illegal chainsaw activities are on-going in the Krokosua Hills Forest
Published : November 29, 2021

Illegal chainsaw operations has been one of the major challenges confronting the sustainable management of forests in Ghana. Through monitoring activities, local community members in the Sikaniasem area have detected on-going illegal felling of trees in the Krokosua Hills Forest Reserve near their community. As a result, the local community members are calling on the Forest Services Division of the Forestry Commission of Ghana, to as a matter of urgency deploy the rapid response team to the area to help stop the illegal activities. Preserving the forest is very essential if Ghana is to contribute meaningfully in addressing climate change, which is adversely affecting the livelihoods of local communities.
